Download Lostify version 0.7
20 September 2007
Status
Lostify is still beta software. If you enable the option to overwrite your original files, you should by all means have a backup of those files before clicking the Apply button.
System Requirements
- a Mac, either PowerPC or Intel
- Mac OS X 10.4 (Tiger) or later
Other Utilities
Download Squeegify version 0.1
10 February 2008
Squeegify is the opposite of Lostify — it is a metadata stripper. It has no user interface (except the icon in the dock); it simply strips all user-level metadata out of any MP4 file dropped on it. It is most useful if you encounter a bug in Lostify (due to its beta status) where a file that already contains metadata is stubbornly refusing to let you edit, remove or add additional metadata to it. In this case, you can take extreme measures with Squeegify: drop the MP4 file on it, and it will create a new copy of the file in the same directory, but sans metadata. The original file remains untouched, but the new, squeaky-clean version should then be able to be run through Lostify without issues.
Download MetaFreshen for iTunes
31 January 2008
MetaFreshen is an AppleScript for iTunes (install it in ~/Library/iTunes/Scripts) that reads the full-length description out of the selected MP4 file(s) and set iTunes’ long description field appropriately. This means you can get the nifty little “i” button on your own movies and TV shows, not to mention descriptions that are over 255 characters. This is normally done by Lostify itself (via its iTunes integration), but if for any reason that integration doesn’t work for you, you can access the functionality here separately.
(Please note that MetaFreshen does not include any ability to edit or create metadata in an MP4 file; it simply reads existing metadata in the file from within iTunes and ensures iTunes’ version of this information is up to date.)
